Bosnia – Files – Banja Luka – Refugees

August 1995, BANJA LUKA, BOSNIA — A file picture taken in Bosnia in August 1995 shows Croatian Serb refugees walking along a motorway near Banja Luka, after Croatian millitary Operation Storm in which almost the entire Croatian Serb population was displaced. Serbia faced demands to track down the former Yugoslavia’s two most wanted war crimes fugitives after Thursday’s, December 8, 2005, arrest of Croatian ex-general Ante Gotovina, but there are few signs that the net is closing. Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and his military chief Ratko Mladic – both charged with genocide – are believed to be in Serbia-Montenegro or in the Serb republic of Bosnia supported by hardline elements of the military. — Image by © RANKO CUKOVIC/Reuters/Corbis
